If the Walled Off Hotel offers what has been claimed as "the worst view in the world," why stay there? For many, the fact that the hotel was designed by elusive street artist Banksy is reason enough.
The Walled Off, a play on the luxurious Waldorf Astoria hotels, is nestled in Bethlehem's West Bank against the infamous cement barrier separating Israel and Palestine. Banksy and his team of assistants spent 14 months transforming a nine room hotel into an art exhibition; this is seemingly where he has spent his time since closing Dismaland in 2015.
Not all of the art within the hotel belongs to Banksy, though. Guest rooms (a total of nine) have been given to artists such as Dominique Petrin. Additionally, an art gallery curated by historian and critic Ismal Duddera will include artworks by some of the most notable Palestinian artists over the last 20 years. An interesting feature of the hotel? The "Wall-Mart" store that invites guests to buy graffiti supplies to make their mark on the wall.
Those interested in booking a room can do so by visiting The Walled Off website.
